The ONE Ride itself is not a 501(c) 3 tax exempt organization. In order to collect, manage and distribute monies for our beneficiaries, we retained the Main Street Community Foundation, Inc of Bristol, Connecticut, a registered 501(c) 3, to serve as The ONE Ride’s Fiscal Sponsor.
All donations will go to the Main Street Community Foundation first, on behalf of The ONE Ride, and will be distributed (minus designated fees and expenses) equally to the five beneficiary 501 (c) 3 foundations named in this effort at the conclusion of the fundraising. Every donation is tax deductible.
You will note that the Main Street Community Foundation is listed in our First Giving site as the non-profit organization of record. This explains that relationship and why they are listed.
WHY DID WE CHOOSE THE MAIN STREET COMMUNITY FOUNDATION?
After the death of Chuck’s parents, the Furey family set up a charitable endowment in their parents’ name through The Main Street Community Foundation, located in the Furey’s hometown of Bristol, Connecticut. The Fureys have a strong and trusting relationship with them. The Main Street Community Foundation’s main mission is to assist donors who wish to build charitable endowments in their community in Connecticut, but because of the relationship with the Fureys, they agreed to help with this national fundraising event, and perform all the collection and distribution of the monies for The ONE Ride.
