What is The ONE Ride?
The ONE Ride is a fundraising campaign that creates a national web of giving and raises money and awareness for five charitable foundations that help families in crisis.
The ONE Ride grew out of Chuck’s experience as a Boston Marathon bombing survivor and his desire to recognize the national outpouring of help the nation showed to Boston after the bombing. He is recreating that sense of national philanthropy with a peer to peer fundraising campaign and a lone 14,000 Miles of Giving motorcycle ride to the four farthest points in America. Part of his trip includes a celebration event on August 7th at The Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD during the 75th Anniversary of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
Chuck has selected five foundations from across the country to share equally in all of the charitable proceeds. All contributions are tax deductible. The ONE Ride has retained a fiscal sponsor, The Main Street Community Foundation of Bristol, CT, to take in, manage and distribute all the money raised for the five charities.
How the fundraiser is organized.
People join the fundraising effort in ONE of several ways:
- DONATING DIRECTLY to either Chuck’s personal fundraising page which also serves as The ONE Ride general donation page
- DONATING DIRECTLY to an individual Road Captain or Road Warrior that you know
- or REGISTERING TO FUNDRAISE. When you register, you will choose to become a Road Captain or Road Warrior. Each Road Captain and Road Warrior will agree to fundraise a minimum of $2,000 each. The only difference between the two categories is that Warriors will join Chuck in Sturgis. Road Warriors do not have to ride a motorcycle to join…they just need to get to Sturgis however they can! Road Captains and Warriors will register and manage donations on the peer-to-peer fundraising website First Giving. Fundraisers can also be part of a team (Team members must still agree to fundraise a minimum of $2000 each).
Please join with us in this national effort to fund the missions of these five incredible foundations! Neighbors helping neighbors. The East coast helping the West. The South helping the Midwest. Americans helping each other. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
|Chuck will depart from Mansfield, MA on June 9th and travel the four farthest corners of the US. He will visit all five foundation headquarter locations and coordinate a celebration with fellow Road Warriors August 7th during the 75th Sturgis Rally. He is expected home about August 20th.
